Well it's actually rather that SOME dhcp servers look at the RIGHT address and ignore the "wrong" one.
There is a RFC written about how to do it right. This to prevent DoS style attacks where you have someone trying to make you give out IPs to the "wrong" MAC address. However due to the way sB does it you can NOT be RFC compliant and it does open up a potential hole where someone could renew/request a change of your assigned ip address.
