Mike
I have
also been considering putting an amp on my AP. I'm using airPoint Pro
Outdoor
I
would like to have an outdoor amp with a weatherpoof ethernet connection as
well. I would like to have an adjustable amp or maybe one like Teltronics that
has an automatic gain control. I definitely want to stay under 36dB. I
understand they make a siamese cable, cat5 and 2 16ga wires
also.
With this new series of smartBridges, the XO, you
would think smartBridges would up the power somewhat. I have been thinking about
ordering a tranzeo just to see if the higher power
radio will help us. We are useing APPO's with 14dBi 120*
sectors. A Total is good for a couple miles. To get 5 or 6 miles
we have to use a 24dBi Grid.
I am not even sure amps will help us untill
we try one. We are fighting a tree, foliage problem, big
time.
Any
suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
Joe

-----Original Message-----We've been thinking about carying the Luxul POE amp. But we were not sure what the interest level is. Here's a good time to ask. Is there any interest in a POE powered amp that would need to be protected from the weather?

Amps can be a curse also. The repeater becomes what we call an alligator mouth. Everyone in 30 mi radius can hear it bit the AP can't hear the CPE's. So be careful with amps and I recommend RF Linx. Good price and they have filtering in both the TX and RX side.Earl UpHi.net-------Original Message-------From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Date: Wednesday, November 05, 2003 01:41:24 PMSubject: Re: [smartBridges] Amp QuestionNot entirely correct. The amp must be part of a CERTIFIED SYSTEM. A numberof manufacturers provide same--YDI and others.JH----- Original Message -----From: "Curt Perryman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2003 11:29 AMSubject: Re: [smartBridges] Amp Question> Amps are not authorized by the FCC and in fact are specifically prohibited> in the Rules.
