Hi Greg, Thanks for clarifying. Just to ensure I hadn’t lost my mind completely, I just now tried making a Debian bootable USB (same stick) and booted it successfully off both workstation and server.. As that works, something seems fishy.

Make sure you select the USB partition when booting (PC F12 usually). Or change the BIOS boot order and make sure you the key USB is the first boot selection. Follow the USB instruction for windows or Linux and you should be good. Just remember don't boot UEFI. So far without luck. On the machines I have tried, they all appear to hang before GRUB starts. I have successfully booted SmartOS using an old fashioned CD on the same machines, but would much prefer the USB approach. Can anyone confirm they can get the latest .img file to boot? Any hints appreciated. ☺ Martin Dyring-Andersen smartos-discuss | Archives<https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now> [https://www.listbox.com/images/feed-icon-10x10.jpg99b9178.jpg?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2ZlZWQtaWNvbi0xMHgxMC5qcGc] <https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/26772761-5af1dc68> | Modify<https://www.listbox.com/member/?&> Your Subscription [https://www.listbox.com/images/listbox-logo-small.png99b9178.png?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2xpc3Rib3gtbG9nby1zbWFsbC5wbmc]<http://www.listbox.com> -- Greg http://www.linkedin.com/in/gregtreantos smartos-discuss | Archives<https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now> [https://www.listbox.com/images/feed-icon-10x10.jpg99b9178.jpg?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2ZlZWQtaWNvbi0xMHgxMC5qcGc] <https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/26772761-5af1dc68> | Modify<https://www.listbox.com/member/?&> Your Subscription [https://www.listbox.com/images/listbox-logo-small.png99b9178.png?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2xpc3Rib3gtbG9nby1zbWFsbC5wbmc]<http://www.listbox.com> -- Greg http://www.linkedin.com/in/gregtreantos ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
