Might the duplicates be the result of Spotlight indexing your backup? If so,
exclude the backup by using the Spotlight preferences.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already reset it around once a week. I use
Onyx but it does the same as is mentioned in the article.
Within a few days, the duplicates/delays are back again.
