Title: Re: [sussex_mug] Re: Duplicate entries in Launch Services
Thanks for the suggestion, but that's not it. The backup disk is in the Spotlight privacy list.

Might the duplicates be the result of Spotlight indexing your backup? If so, exclude the backup by using the Spotlight preferences.

Subject: [sussex_mug] Re: Duplicate entries in Launch Services

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already reset it around once a week. I use Onyx but it does the same as is mentioned in the article.
Within a few days, the duplicates/delays are back again.

Yes, there are options to 'run shell script before (or after) copy'.
You're right that it can't be too difficult to write a script to do
that and I'll take a look. But I wonder if 'launch services' will still
try to take a look at the apps there while the disk is mounted for
10-15 mins a day?

I'm pretty sure there are lots of ways Launch Services can get
confused (I've had periods where I had double duplicates of
everything) so I would look into resetting that before you get
drowned in scripting.

Personally I would reset it and see if the problem repeats
