I think you should have to pay when you want it to remember to record shows in advance or like the season pass thing where it will record the whole season. I can see charging for that. Well actually you can always pause whether you pay for it or not. You can pause something for up to 30 minutes on ours then fast forward through the commercials. It just gets on my nerves though that you have to pay to record, but I guess if you think about it, even with a VCR you are paying for the tapes you record on, but not always do you spend $5 a month on tapes
