I don't mind stairs either, great exercise. I have an aversion to shoes and socks so the bottoms of my feet are pretty rough. Just means I can walk across hot pavement in the summertime too w/o having shoes.

I'd wear the pack.  My feet are so tender because I am hardly ever without shoes.  I can carry a pack without much trouble.  I don't mind stairs either, because I hate elevators.

Walk to the top with the pebble in each shoe. Piece of cake for me b/c the bottoms of my feet are so rough, I don't feel anything on them anyway. I walk up and down our road which used to be gravel up till about a month ago w/o shoes all the time. Little sharp pointy rocks, never felt a thing. Hubby thinks I'd be a good one to walk on glass or fire.

Would you rather:
1) Walk to the top of the Sears Tower with a 40 lb pack (up the stairs)

OR

2)  Walk to the top of the Sears Tower with a large pebble in each shoe
