I know Charles. But
that's because parents are too worried about hurting their kid's self esteem.
They want to be buddies and respect their kid's right to privacy.
There isn't any rights
in this house as long as you live here other than :
~you have the right to
breathe
~you have the right to
a bed to sleep in...ALONE
~you have the right to
get 3 meals if you so desire
~you have the right to
clothing.
Other than that and
their responsibility to go to school everyday, everything else is
fluff.

LOL...that's spying, that is
parenting. It amazes me the parents I encounter that are having problems
with a child and they tell me that they don't even go in their child's
room! Ever!
Charles
Mims
exactly. My father
always knew where we were. Hell, he was spying on my oldest sister
skateboarding in the street. He asked her one day if she was skateboarding
down this one hilly street across the tracks. She ofcourse said "No
Dad."
So he told her,
"well I have seen kids doing it. You better not let me find out you
are."
A few days or weeks
went by...he bided his time and then wham! Caught her at the bottom of the
hill coming down one day..LOL
She got her board
taken away and was punished for 2 weeks. She didn't ride down that street
anymore after that.
My sister is 50.
It's amazing the stuff she got in trouble for compared to what kids get away
with today.
Anyway, my point to
this was...my father always has his thumb on our pulses. He always knew what
the kids in the neighborhood were up to and always knew how to track us
down.

Huh...there was no tracking down when I was a teen.
Before I went somewhere I told my mother exactly where I would be.
And God help me if that isn't where I was. I knew she would come
sometimes just to check. But never knew when. If I went
somewhere else I dang well better call and ask permission first. I
remember once going to a friends house, and we decided to go next door to
the neighbors house. My mom needed to know something and called
for me and I wasn't there. I didn't go out of the house except to
school and work for a full month.

That's how Sabrina's will
be. Not to mention she is getting to the age where she will start going
out with friends and as Charles mentioned pay phones are more and more
scarace. This way she can get hold of me if she needs to and if something
happens while she is out, I can get hold of her. My parents would have
had one for me, if they had them when I was a kid. They hated trying to
track me down all the time when I was out with
friends.

My
daughter has a cell phone..but she does extra chores for me to
earn it...and I like knowing I can call her and she will answer even if
she is not home. I had a phone when I was a
teenager.
