And if there was money on the line? Regis -----Original Message----- From: rdensford [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 8:07 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; RCSE Soaring (E-mail); [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [RCSE] Contests; why?
This is true about all competition however the only thing that really ticks me off is when people feel they need to either stretch the rules or just flat out cheat. After all there is no money on the line so why do it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "gldr guy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "RCSE Soaring (E-mail)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 1:26 PM Subject: Re: [RCSE] Contests; why? > Bill,I hope you are not a troll. As long as there are contests there is going to be controversy(sp?). And not just in the RC arena. When I used to race Hobie 16s back in the 80s there were some serious disagreements that would escalate beyond just verbal at times, especially at the usual Saturday night barbecue and beer fest between race days. I have seen guys put their boats in irons and jump overboard to "discuss" a foul- especially when wind is light and you are trying to make the most out of every little puff. I suspect contests of any kind tend to draw some people who have perhaps a more agressive and competitive nature and as a result some arguments are bound to happen. Contests are good for those who like them, just as going out on a Sunday to fly with no particular goal in mind is also a good thing. I guess if you dont like the competitive enviornment, you certainly have a right to not compete, > but I dont think those that do should be judged as silly. As a matter of fact I kind of like the arguments that take place on the exchange/at contests, etc- kinds of livens things up a bit! > GG > RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
