that's a personal opinion.

running win8.1 on a couple of pc's and a surface pro over here, and am very happy with it. especially with the fact that win8 will sync most of the win settings to the cloud, so stuff will travel much easier between machines.
and the Modern UI/apps are great on a tablet.

8.1 is a lot better OS than 8 when it came out.
and all the complaining about the removal of the start menu and lesser productivity on the desktop is just nagging because MS finally got back into the game, and had the balls to start changing things that should have been done years ago.
and no... the desktop isn't going away anytime soon....

If you really feel like reinstalling an OS, reinstall windows 7, you will get a performance increase because it's a fresh install and you will get all the fun of reinstalling all of your programs but you won't get the crap that is windows 8 in the process. Don't waste your time or money on windows 8, it's just not worth it.

I am about to install windows 8. Just wanted to ask if it is worth it or not.

Any increase in performance?

Strange issues with Softimage?

Thx.
