Hey, Joerg! thanks for the tip! I followed up on that and have
already ordered a new IDPROM chip from Mouser Electronics at:
http://www.mouser.com
So, continuing along these lines, my old dead chip has only the
bar code and no numbers on it. Did you get your problem resolved?
That is, did you get a new chip? If so, how did you resolve the
problem of rebuilding the ethernet address and the hostid? Is
there a way to find out from Sun based on the barcode? My system
is used. It was junked by a company I was contracting for.
Probably more to the point, considering that my LAN doesn't reach
outside my office via the Ethernet, does it really matter what the
ethernet address is for the IPC as long as it is different from
the other systems on the LAN?
