Hey, folks!
I'm trying to boot my SparcStation IPC into Linux for the first
time. This is gonna be a bit of a trick. I've got no CD-ROM,
so I can't boot that way. Also, I was trying to clean out some
file space on the hard drive. But, whoever had this machine before
me had a recursive hard link in the file system and when I tried
to delete the directory it traversed through to the root and
pretty much wiped out half the drive including the main bin
directories. (Aaargh!) So, I can't really boot from the hard
drive either, because, althought the file system is intact, there
isn't any way to get anything in or out of it. (This is really
no biggie 'cuz I was gonna wipe it clean anyway.)
So, to make a long story short, I'm trying to boot from the
floppy drive. I was able to make a boot disk using the 'boot32.img'
file at: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-6.0/sparc/images/
and it goes through the motions of booting, but then craps out.
I'm thinking it's some sort of hardware configuration problem on
the IPC. Anyway, here's what shows on my console screen:

IDPROM: Unknown format type!

Anybody got a clue for me as to what to do next?
What the heck is an IDPROM anyway? My best WAG (wild-ass-guess)
is that there's some config info supposed to be stored in the
IPC somewhere (a battery backed RAM or EEPROM?) and that chip
ain't workin' properly.
