Senti.. Thanks for the nice message.. Well, first, I would like to tell you that your English is really good.. So don't worry at all about that :)
It was the first site you I visited too. http://www.linux-usb.org. Well naturally, the first output on Google when the keywords USB and Speedtouch are there :).. I have spent more than five days with same site trying to connect and no way..Let me ask you, what version of the modem you have ?? If you have the silver modem, I really recomend using rev4fw.zip rather than speedtouch330_3012.zip Now, please follow that link again http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/, please browse the FAQ and follow the "example" steps precisely, and please note: If you have the "silver modem (Rev 4)" only copy the rev4fw.zip into the speedtouchconf-06-03-2005 directory after running the script (do not unzip it) and never alcaudsl.sys, the latter is the older version and will take preference (see FAQ #7) and that if u have the silver modem only. Unistall every other older FW before you start, the script should delete mgmt.o but anyways please be sure of that. You should be fine as long you are using higher Kernels (2.6.xx or above) I am somehow a Newbie but believe me LINUX is worth it. If you have an Ethernet .. things are just automatically configured but... It is just the USB modem that makes things a littlle complicated. Let me know.. Good luck and again, your English is just fine :) Yousry ----- Original Message ----- From: Santi Aguirre To: speedtouch@ml.free.fr Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2005 7:29 PM Subject: [speedtouch] Re: ERROR: Can't determine DISPLAY Yousry, I will confess you that this is the first site I visited. I have Suse 9.3 and this help mailing list belongs to them (http://www.linux-usb.org) or at least they have a link to this mailing list... Also I will confess that when I followed their instructions I made lot of errors (it was the first time I used Kate, in fact I did not know that I had to use an text editor) and of course it did not work. Well, I will reinstall Suse (this is the 3rd time :S) and will retry. Now at least after so many trials I know almost perfectly what I have to do... Three or four experiences like this one and Bill Gates will require my services as an expert, but do not worry my reply will be "no thanks, Linux is so lovely, so exciting and the Linux community is so kind that I can't let them down in spite of all the hours I wasted in front of my computer to get installed the f... USB modem" I do not know how this story will end but at least I am happy to practice my English... I will keep you informed. Thank you. >From: "Yousry S.
