Great idea George! Here is another thought, why not award the project to the
bidder that uses the most confusing, highly technical non-sense language, that
is totally meaningless. That way a contractor that is still using an old Rotary
Feedback Rewinder, will loose out to one using a Flux Capacitor.
Its MLK day here in PHX and all the AHJ's are off enjoying life on the other
side!!

Well, if you have "smart water" it knows to reduce speed to the contracted
design criteria. Otherwise, it flows from areas of higher pressure to areas
of lower pressure following the rules of fluid mechanics.

I had another thought on this velocity thing. Instead of picking the lowest
responsible bidder based on price, why not award projects on the responsible
bid based on lowest estimated velocity ?

It's a Monday full of AHJ and A/E interfaces..... :(

One (maybe) last question on the velocity issue. Once the "engineering" is
completed, and the pipe sizes and demand area have been determined, with the
required safety factor of 10 PSI or 10%, whichever is most inconvenient,
what do y'all think happens to the "calculated velocity" in the pipes when
the reality pressure acts on the system?
