If it weren't for the kids we couldn't retire and have them support us in
the luxury of social security.....and looking around my office, I'm a long
way from being oldest.

Absolutely agree that "always did it this way" is just like verifying
competence-
"I've been doing this for sixty eight years" doesn't mean they're competent.
Or fitters with one year experience eight times:)
Interviewed one recently with 17 yrs hanging pipe, he cautioned he didn't
know cpvc hanbger spacing very well, had only done two jobs of a couple
hundred heads each in plastic. I wonder how long it takes to learn what is
essentially a pipe schedule sort of hanger spacing- 1"=6', etc. Duh?

Chris, it was good for you to stick up for the next generation- I recall
getting stuff from the old grizzled veterans, so I thought I'd bark at a few
since it's my turn. It's why we're making advanced hydraulics even harder n
the next round:)

Before we knight all the seasoned folks in the industry let's acknowledge
the group of seasoned folk that use the terms or phrases like "well I've
always done it like that" and like that has always been wrong. There are
just as many seasoned folks that shouldn't be training the next generation
as those that should. Of course this forum does have the should be training
the next generation folks.

And all the kids aren't as bad as mentioned or generalized.

Hopefully this topic (seasoned vs. kids) doesn't go the way of PE vs. ET but
I had to speak up for the kids a bit.
