Why would you want to do that? I would use a 1" hanger for 1" pipe, 1 1/4"
hanger for 1 1/4", etc.

2002, but 9.1.1.6 governs trapeze and I'm more concerned with general hanger
size; such as, hanging 1" pipe with an 1 1/4" 2-hole strap.

Are you using NFPA 13 2002? Or 2007?

The requirements of 9.1.1.6 were changed in the 2007 edition.

Subject: Hanger Size Question

I thought I read that it was acceptable to install pipe using a hanger one
pipe size larger than the pipe being installed but I can't seem to find it.
Can someone remind me where I would have read it?

Thanks,
