I am designing a system for the top level of a tower (the same one from a previous post). The space is roughly 25 x 25. The height at the hip is 22 feet and at the peak of the roof is about 30 ft. The peak is in the geometric center and there are 4 sloped surfaces, similar to the top of the Washington Monument. The space is almost completely filled by an empty, open-topped steel tank about 20 ft high. There are existing sprinklers at the roof, but the piping is in bad shape and needs to be replaced. I designed a system using 7 regular sprinklers. The contractor who has to do the job has asked if the Tyco Attic Hip sprinklers could be used in this situation. My immediate reaction was no because I don't think this qualifies under the definition of an attic. However, I thought I would put it out to see if anyone has used them in this type of situation.
