I just spoke to a friend who is a voting member with the ICC and currently at the final action hearing in Minneapolis.
He confirmed that proposal RB64 passed with the 2/3 majority it needed to add residential fire sprinkler requirements in the 2009 edition of the International Residential Code. RB64 has a ramp up period where the requirements take effect on January 1, 2011. This is a huge victory for the fire industry and the safety of millions of families across the country. Congratulations and thank you to the IRC Fire Sprinkler Coalition and to all who supported this effort.
