I trust all of you are sending something similar to the local news folks in your area? Sooner we inform the public, sooner it will sink in and help overcome the local NAHB objections state by state. The fight's not over, there are 50 more coming.

Should airbags and seat belts be an option or a requirement? Smoke detectors? Feel free to reprint the attached article. Local newspapers could add in the human interest stories from local building code officials like Tim Knisely from Centre Region Code attending and voting to save lives in the future. As a member of the fire sprinkler community, I am always frustrated when I read about fire deaths in homes- we could have stopped it. 3 kids died in Coatesville last night, didn't have to. Way overdue, too many have died. http://www.ircfiresprinkler.org/IRC%20Overwhelming%20Support%20Release%20FIN AL.pdf glc ________________________________________ From: George Church [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 4:26 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: Emailing: IRC%20Overwhelming%20Support%20Release%20FINAL.pdf Thought you'd like to know that this morning in Minneapolis, the voting members of the International Code Council that writes the International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC) and International Residential Code (IRC) that PA adopts as the basis of the PA Uniform Construction Code, voted by an overwhelming majority (73%) to require automatic fire sprinklers in single and two-family homes, townhouses, and other residential construction as of the next code cycle update. A supermajority of 66% was required to pass the proposed code change. Overcoming a massive lobbying effort by the National Association of Home Builders who campaigned against the mandate for smoke detectors years ago, the code group once again demonstrated support, and now impending law as states adopt these new requirements, for the life-saving benefits of residential fire sprinklers. Congratulations are in order to local Building Code Officials who worked hard to do their share to pass this code improvement. George Church President Rowe Sprinkler Systems, Inc.
