Gregg:

Take a look also at A.4.1.4, which was a new section in the 2002 edition and
carried through to the 2008 edition with the same section number. It says"...
or a product voluntarily recalled by ... [the manufacturer et al]". That
covers the situation where the manufacturer initiates a replacement program
ahead of a CPSC mandate, or as a result of negotiation with the CPSC or other
regulatory body.

The language in 5.2.1.6 makes it clear that the owner must replace the
sprinklers that have been subject to recall, even if they missed the deadline
for voluntary replacement by the mfr.

Looks like I should prepare a proposed change to move that definition of
"recalled product" from the Annex to Chapter 3.

  Greetings Formites,

I got into an interesting discussion yesterday concerning NFPA
25, 2008 edition 5.2.1.16 Sprinklers that are subject to recall shall be
replaced per the manufacturer's requirements.

Does this include the Central Sprinkler Voluntary Recall of the o-ring
sprinklers?
Some discussion was had if this was a recall or replacement.
