Subject: Re: wood frame attics

This, like Scot's issue, is a contractual problem. What I have always
done is (was since I'm out of that game now) is base my bid on the
documents I have and identify those documents by name, page number,
date & last revision date, including both plan sheets and
specifications, noting also when I know I have an incomplete set that
it is incomplete and attach that to the bid/contract as an exhibit. If
you get to the job site and find your center of tile layout is wrong
because the ceiling tile guy has started at the opposite end than what
your plans show or has rotated the grid 90 degrees then the fix is a
change order to the GC. When plywood has been added to the trusses
that is not shown on your plans or the installer started at the south
end when your plans show the north end then the re-design is a change
order to the GC. When you get to the site and the building that's
there is not the one you were given plans for (this has happened)
then.... On the other hand if you don't specify to what stage of plans
and specs you've bid and contracted to then the whatever ones the GC
has are the ones you'll be biting the bullet on.
