John: It could help except that, respectfully I have to admit, for years I've only been putting standpipes in stairs when the level of the highest floor is 30 feet above the lowest level of fire department access per 905.3.1 and if the "AND IN THE LOCATIONS INDICATED IN SECTIONS 905.4, 905.5 and 905.6." applies like this, I have to put Class I connections in every stair everywhere regardless of building height per 905.4 item 1 except for in an R-3 (905.3 Exception)

It's the rear of auditoriums, balconies, and dressing rooms that appear to have no requirement but do have a location under 905.5.1. Would a code official require hose connections in the rear of, say, a school auditorium in addition to the standpipe connections on either side of the stage in the front of the auditorium based on this item in IBC, IFC? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of John Drucker Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 2:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: A1 and A2 Standpipes Hi Mike, Heres what your looking for; 2006 IBC 410.7 Stages 2006 IFC 914.6 Stages Hope that helps, Sincerely John Drucker Fire Protection Subcode Official Fire/Building/Electrical Inspector New Jersey -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Radzicki, Michael Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 1:40 PM To: [email protected] Subject: A1 and A2 Standpipes What is the intent of IFC 2006 item 905.5.1 calling out a location for Class II hose connections in the rear of auditoriums, balconies, and dressing rooms of A1 and A2 occupancies when there is no requirement for Class II systems in these occupancies in neither 905.3 nor the special detailed requirements of IBC chapter 4?
