When I worked for a City we got these "I don't need to comply with the code, God will protect me" all the time. When said to me once I asked if they were sure I wasn't sent by God to protect them and the wisdom of ignoring this possibility. I went on to ask about all the non-believers and the 50 something of God's children a year that died in MN. We moved right back to the Code with agreement.
