13R - You can use QR heads in HVAC closets etc, or you can use them if there
are less than 4 heads in a dwelling unit. Otherwise, you can't use them in the
dwelling unit.

13 - You can mix them as far as I can tell from 8.4 but then you lose the 4
head residential calc if they are mixed in one compartment and then you have to
fall back on another method. If you use the room-design method, you will have
to expand the calcs to the communicating spaces which has never been
advantageous to me vs using all res heads.

The price of Res vs QR heads is comparable so I wonder what the reason would be
for not using all res heads anyways?

To clarify, each residential compartment contains both res and qr heads.

Subject: Mixing residential/qr heads

Reviewing a drawing where the designer has both residential and quick
response heads in a dwelling unit. A res head is installed where the
coverage is required to be EC. In other areas non-residential QR
sprinklers.
First, I don't think there's a problem mixing heads. Is that correct?
Second, can room design method be used, provided minimum 4 heads are
calcd.?
