Well of course interconnected alarms make the building safer from fire because they prevent fire somehow. My NFPA 13D/2007 Annex A .1.2(a) says that electrical equipment overheating or arcing is responsible for 14% of all home fires. Another 7% is attributed to hot objects including electrical equipment. Zero percent have been started by sprinkler systems. I suggest we ban electrical systems in new homes thereby making them even safer and reducing the price of the home by the cost of that system.
