If the air is supplied by an oil lubricated compressor, care must be taken to ensure that the oil PPM in the condensate water does not exceed EPA allowable thresholds prior to introducing the water into the drain. If there is anti freeze in the drum drip, that should be approved by the water purveyor. Lastly, condensate from oil lubricated compressors should always be disposed of in a sewage drain and never in a storm drain or on the ground, provided the oil PPM is acceptable. I have contacted the Ohio EPA and am working with their Small Business Assistance Department to develop a Standard Procedure for working with dry system condensate and anti freeze systems I would encourage other contractors to contact their state EPA with any questions about disposal, their Small Business Assistance department is very helpful and is provided at no cost to the contractor.

To: <[email protected]> and the condensate nipple collects the condensate, so the top valve stays open to allow it in there- and sometimes there's a little AF in the bottom of the drum drip so whats in there doesn't freeze- so make sure UH in area are tagged out when draining. two valves means you don;t need to shut down the system- this isn't rocket science. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard Mote Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2010 12:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Drum Drip- why 2 valves? 30 gallon drum welded to a hand truck with a hose bib welded toward the bottom so we could run a hose to the nearest floor drain.
