Don't know about double gaskets. always been hit or miss. Is there a flange
opposite you can loosen, align the one that is out, then tighten all?

Subject: misaligned flanges

Thanks for the responses, I thought the thread was dead (no pun). The
system side is 1/8" lower than the street side so something has to spring or
the riser shortened and it's 8" s40 threaded into flanges, 40 years old.
Pipe stands are what I plan to use, 3/4" rod inside 3/4" pipe with a 10"
riser clamp around the wafer check and brackets for 30 degree braces to the
wall. They were never lined up right I found when it dropped and it's right
below a 4' duct where the valve-check-valve assembly is, so no way to hang
from structure. There also is no o-ring (as one might expect), just flat
faces to mate to the OS&Y flanges. I was thinking of some RTV sealant as a
high tack to hold the gaskets and maybe help seal but I'm still going to
have misalignment which is my original quandary. Use really long wrenches
on the 3/4" rods? Double gaskets?

More hangers will not work. The pipe develops "memory" and springs to that
spot. Pipe stands can help, but often there is other stuff in the way. Short
of chasing the leak around the flange, gaskets are the only control.
Are crush gaskets still available?

Matt
