I'm intrigued by your statement that glycol systems spring leaks. Does glycol
eat through regular white dope and tape? Is there another reason why leaking
is an issue?

I don't unless in Glycol systems. I only have 8 years experience compared to
AHJs, and NICET IV posts on here. I speak from the field, I wish to obtain NICET
in Inspections one day. Glycol systems spring leaks. When you have a wet, or dry
system, you only need white dope, and tape. Dope and tape the threads from the
300 side, dope only on the fitting, or shopside side. It doesn't matter if you
use tape or dope first, but dope on the outside of threads helps you make up
deeper in the threads. By dry, I include Pre Action systems. Note, when I run a
main drain, I use dope only. I've never had a drain leak, and I've run drains
coming from 220 psi static.
