Is the GC aware of the additional expense of 1) the electrical requirements,
and 2) the additional maintenance expense to the owner, for a pump?
Just curious.

Subject: Design solution needed

I’m designing a system for a small restaurant, the kitchen is a OH-I
occupancy, and the dining area is a LH occupancy, the available static
pressure is 106 psi residual 62 psi with 751 gpm. My problem is that the
incoming service is a 1¼”, and to bring in a larger service is very
expensive because of utilities and other obstruction that’s in the way, the
GC suggested that we put in a tank and booster pump, to me it sounds crazy
to install a tank and pump for a building that’s less than 4000 sq. ft. when
you have available city pressure.

Any ideas how to go about this, please advise.

Best Regards,
