The nozzles below the vessel equator are even more crucial than those above as
per NFPA 15(2007) Section 7.4.2.4 since the liquid inside is in contact with
the bottom of the vessel. Rundown is not considered acceptable to wet this
surface and must be directly impinged. Sections 7.4.2.5 and 7.4.2.6 provides
additional guidance.

Subject: RE: Waterspray Systems for LPG tankers

I did a rail car loading facility years back. I don't recall any concerns
about the wheels.
I do remember, when we tested, everything was covered and completely
drenched.

Subject: Waterspray Systems for LPG tankers

Hi all,

When protecting LPG vessels, one has to ensure that the surfaces of the
tanks are fully wet, taking cognisance of vessel supports, etc.

I am looking at a water spray system being designed to protect a loading
area for an LPG Tanker. I'm concerned about the area beneath the tanker, and
especially at the areas shielded by wheels, etc.

Wondering if anyone has been involved in a similar installation and if so,
how these areas were dealt with.

Thanks
