Nice for e heli-deck but not much use for an asphalt or concrete pad which
requires UL/FM listings/approvals.

This is not a difficult installation. Locate spray nozzles low alongside the
loading/unloading area, positioned to spray below the tanker and truck. They
are either mounted to canopy structural members or pipe stands. It's done this
way for over-the-road tankers and rail cars. Viking had some great info on
their nozzles which would show projection distance based on inlet pressures and
spray angles. You've got to have enough pressure to penetrate and reach below
the trailer.

It's not super difficult nor expensive like specialty pop-up thingy nozzles.

Subject: Waterspray Systems for LPG tankers

Hi all,

When protecting LPG vessels, one has to ensure that the surfaces of the
tanks are fully wet, taking cognisance of vessel supports, etc.

I am looking at a water spray system being designed to protect a loading
area for an LPG Tanker. I'm concerned about the area beneath the tanker, and
especially at the areas shielded by wheels, etc.

Wondering if anyone has been involved in a similar installation and if so,
how these areas were dealt with.

Thanks
