Door frame, not door, so that implies the hole does not need a door. 3.3.1 says to me that if the opening into the shower is equal to or less than three feet it doesn't even need the lintel to be a compartment and as long as it is less than eight feet a lintel 8" or more deep suffices to create a separate compartment.
