Waterflow alarms on fire sprinkler floor control manifolds would not fulfill
the requirement of 5.6.1, but neither is it intended that each individual
standpipe be furnished with an alarm. At least one "master" flow alarm on
every SYSTEM, except for manual dry.

The foregoing is my opinion only and does not necessarily represent the opinion
or intent of the NFPA 14 Technical Committee on Standpipe and Hose Systems.

Steve,

Would the intent of 5.6.1 be met if there were flow switches on floor control
valves with the required inspector's test for them?

It also says Standpipe System - not standpipe, so is the intent as it sounds
that one flow switch would satisfy the requirement for more that one individual
standpipe that are interconnected?

Thanks,
Greg
