Be careful when using joint restraints only. Restraints only on the fitting
joints may not be enough. Weaker soils will require more adjacent joints to be
restrained.  With the right number of restrained joints, the pipe itself on one
side of the fitting will act as the thrust block for the pipe on the other side
of the fitting.

Subject: Thrust block vs Restrainers - Underground

Hello, folks!

I am working with underground pipe PVC DR14 C900 for a fire sprinkler
system and I do understand that if we use restrainers (for example:
SIGMA PV-LOK-PVM and PVP) in/near the MJ fittings, we do not need to
use thrust blocks. ¿Is this true?

I would appreciate if someone could share an Excel file to calculate
the thrust block size.

Thanks

Best regards!
