We have a client who is building a new demising wall in an existing ESFR
protected warehouse. The architect decided to build a 24" box around the 30"
deep girder. With the demising wall extended down from the bottom of the box to
the floor. The box extends 8" from the side of the wall. NFPA 13 doesn't have
an against the wall obstruction detail that shows acceptable distances from
these type of obstructions as it relates to ESFR heads. My assumption is that
the existing head will need to be moved 6" to comply with section 8.12.5.3.1
(3) "Additional sprinklers shall not be required where the obstruction is 1 ft
(0.3 m) or less in
width and located a minimum of 1 ft (0.3 m) horizontally from the sprinkler."
But since there isn't a specific detail, I though I would check with all of
you.
I have included a rough sketch for those of you who do better visually.

Thanks in advance!
