How does a hanger ring on the end of a 3/8" rod prevent movement any
differently that a 20' long piece of wood with a hole in it?
Just curious!

It also states that the pipe needs to be secured to the structure to prevent
movement.

Subject: "HANGING"

When installing piping through TJI, are you required to provide a hanger on the
piping?

For years in this area, guys drill the TJI and run CPVC through them without a
hanger. A new inspector is now requiring the fitter to go back and add hangers
on a large 4 story building.

What are your thoughts? I was under the impression that installing in this
manner, you are laying the piping on the structure and the structure is
essentially your hanger, so no additional hangers are needed.
