When I was contracting, most of the companies I worked for (back in the good ol' days) had one or more backhoes and we did all of our own undergrounds. That's probably why I push on my clients to let our firm do the private site fire improvements, because we're way better at it than civil. In fact, site fire improvements are a pretty big part of our practice and we generally pick up from civil at the property line, which is where I've grown to think the POC should be when it comes to civil. (We also detail a lot of hot taps but some cities and water agencies don't allow that.)
