The NFPA 13 contains a great deal of obstruction rules in chapter 8. There is no mention of obstructions in the chapters relating to In-Rack. In a major warehouse I found all in rack sprinklers installed upright between the racks beams violating the obstruction rules of chapter 8 (As well as of the specific FMglobal instructions for in-racks). The designer argues that there are no rules of sprinkler positioning between the racks and that the most important factor is to prevent damage to the sprinkler. Would appreciate your opinions.
