I had to step out for a couple of hours, but I'm back.

I'm assuming that I can use the rods less than 6" rule and omit lateral
bracing, right?

That would leave 4-ways and longitudinal only, correct?

Really no different.  I doubt you will find longitudinal bracing listed for
cpvc.  You will have to put a short branch (same size as main) perpendicular
to the main and brace that with a lateral brace to act as your longitudinal
brace on the main.

I'm about to do my first CPVC sway bracing calc's.  This is in CA (a first
for me as well), north of San Francisco.  

Are there any special issues that I need to consider, or do I approach this
as if it's not much different than if it where steel?
