Using 2013, and the area of concern will be supported with 2-hole CPVC straps.

What is your edition of NFPA 13. If you are in the 2016 edition don't 
automatically assume you can eliminate due to clearances less than 6". There 
are cases where you don't. 

 

Also note in older editions it is 6" from top of pipe to point of connection to 
structure.

Really no different.  I doubt you will find longitudinal bracing listed for 
cpvc.  You will have to put a short branch (same size as main) perpendicular to 
the main and brace that with a lateral brace to act as your longitudinal brace 
on the main.

I’m about to do my first CPVC sway bracing calc’s.  This is in CA (a first for 
me as well), north of San Francisco.  

Are there any special issues that I need to consider, or do I approach this as 
if it’s not much different than if it where steel?
