Factory Mutual has begun limiting K factors and increasing design densities as ceiling heights increase. NFPA has begun to migrate some of these concepts into the 2025 edition of NFPA 13. I don’t know that there’s an explicit limit for light hazard, but there’s some language in the design approach chapter that may start to limit them in the higher occupancy groups. In FM 2-0 there are specific combinations of heads and ceiling heights allowed by Hazard Category.
