No, you didn't read what I said. Firefox implements their
own locking mechanism, so two instances of firefox will
play nicely together. The problem is when some other
application, that does not follow firefox's locking protocol,
tries to access the database while firefox is running.
The developer I talked to, from the mozilla team, stated that two
instances of firefox would not play well together. Which is what
seemed to be the bad decision to me. I can see that being
done and causing problems. It seemed that was more likely,
through accident or intent, than clients having multiple
instances over a broken NFS.
