Thank you for continuing to help me out here, I wasn't quite sure what
exactly you said I should link so I tried a couple of things:

Sadly none of them worked (and I removed all the links that I made above
in case they could cause problems), still the error is:

-/usr/share/perl5/site_perl- exists but I'm not sure how to interact
with it, also there's another FreeType at
-/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/Font/FreeType- instead of being in
-/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/auto/Font/FreeType- where FreeType.so but I'm
not sure if that's significant here.
