Hello folks,
Apparently only three people have ever had this problem we've had, and
thus answers are hard to come by. Why is Perl translating things to
Pinyin? How can I turn that off? I have no clue and it's still extremely
problematic.
I'm running LMS 7.9 on an arch linux box, I just installed it yesterday
via AUR and today when I switch from my library on my readyNAS to this
one, all songs with Japanese characters become Chinese translated pinyin
gibberish. Now I'm new to a lot of this and I have no idea how to
configure perl manually, in this post it's suggested that I run > sudo perl
-MCPAN -e 'install Front::FreeType' but that ends with
Code:
--------------------
Warning: Cannot install Front::FreeType, don't know what it is.
--------------------
Elsewhere someone hinted that:
> Using --d_graphics I discover that perl-GD needs to be installed to
> have Chinese characters turn up on the squeezebox display. I did this
> and now I have Chinese characters on both the slimserver web interface
> and squeezebox display.
That's great! But how exactly did you do that? I need it step by step...
Do I need to run MCPAN from a specific folder?
The final option is the last thing I've seen posted on this form about
this, and it hints at the existence of a plugin called >
SlimServer_FontPack_0.1 , but you see it's 2016 and any traces of that plugin
have long since
disappeared from the internet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and maybe future versions of LMS
could be configured to NOT do this by default, like previous versions
did.
Thanks!
