Ahh I see, and I understand this might be a common thing for people running Arch so I'm glad people will be able to read this thread and figure it out.
Thank you for all your help, in the end all I had to do was -sudo rm -rf Font- inside -/opt/logitechmediaserver/CPAN/- and my VFD based squeezeboxes are back to displaying Japanese character sets perfectly!
