Hi Michael, thanks for responding.

Ping only failed because the IP address it was using for
www.mysqueeezebox.com stopped responding; once ping was restarted and a
DNS lookup established the new IP address ping was fine. LMS went into
its unresponsive state at around the same time and remained in that
state.  This could be coincidence, of course.  Two questions:

a) Is it a usual thing for an IP address used by www.mysqueezebox.com to
become unresponsive (in other words, should I expect to see this on a
~weekly basis)?
b) Is there any way that LMS could be adversely affected if an IP
address used by www.mysqueezebox.com became unresponsive?

If LMS always accesses www.mysqueeezebox.com (as I would expect) and so
a DNS lookup is performed, then it should continue to work, as ping did
once it had the right IP address.  Log attached, though it shows the
same kinda stuff as before.
