OK. Since the problem happens when playing a MP3 stream on ainsgle player - this should be played direct by the player - so the issues is probably in the player. Player is in two parts - LMS player (i.e. audio decoder) and analogue output (e.g. DAC if separate, amp & Speakers). Is the problem on the Squeezlite 1.9.8 or 1.8 ? A problem in the analogue part should not be discounted, for example, with radio there was an issue where Bass would drop out after a certain time period. If player is using Pulseaudio for output - it is possible another application is sharing the stream ? If player is using Alsa - using mix can cause problems. More details on the player is needed so that other tests / fixes can be suggested. To eliminate/confirm possible analogue issue - first test would be change output device used by Squeezelite. >From description of audio problem it seems it is very obvious so a cheap $/£/€ 5$ USB audio adapter (or maybe if PC onboard or HDMI audio) with headphone should be enough to test.
