I actually use Material on an iOS device to control a playing instance of iPeng on the same device. Its largely because of the Music & Artist Info plugin integration via Material. I use the iOS device - iPhone or iPad - with an Audioquest Dragonfly DAC which will get me 24/96 and a decent pair of B&W headphones. Returning to the Onkyo. Try Phillipes UpnpBridge but note all the defaults before you start tweaking things. It can be made to work properly but I suspect you may need to do some tweaking. Also dont run the interface plugin at the same time. Upnp calls to it from rogue devices can flood your network. Upnp/dlna is not a very standardised protocol and rogue devices ie ones that dont have a very good implementation are quite common. Early smart TVs for example.
