They are just coming back here in Germany because people found out
that
a) the power consumption reduction claims were grossly wrong and
b) that "energy saver" lamps are poisonous, hard to get rid of when
broken (you can't just throw them away) and make bad light.

I just found brand-new 100W light bulbs in a store close to me, they
found new loopholes in the legislation.

Must have missed those

The whole thing is grossly exaggerated. My whole permanent
entertainment setup (and that includes test equipment I use) including
two servers and 7 SBs consumes about as much power in standby as one of
these lamps my better half always leaves on running the whole day and we
have a lot of lamps here. And no, I'm not even talking about the old,
bright filament lamps I still use in some places.
