Not oops at all. If a big corporate company pushes and pushes their tangible products to permanently use a service that they provide, or worse, update products that never even needed a service they provide (MSB didn't exist at time of purchase of my SB3). Then - unless I guess that business goes under - they have to keep providing that service for a reasonable amount of time. They can't just decide to turn off a bit of the infrastructure that they made required to operate equipment people have spent a lot of money on, they're obligated to look after it. The premium price and status of the squeezebox stuff means I would suggest that is some considerable number of years. Imagine if Pioneer, when they exited the Plasma TV market, suddenly flipped a switch that made people's TVs not work. Notwithstanding that Logitech seems to have scrapped squeezebox and MSB for the replacement which as far as I can see is almost identical to the point it's even the same hardware and software just changed a little. You are perhaps right about the "exec" bit. I hope the feeling on here, slimdevices forum, and again the fact that UE is ABSOLUTELY THE SAME THING persuades said exec that they've made a massive cock up and revert the decision. Anyway, nontheless, we're not talking as if it's been turned off, I understand this is just an outage. Ironically if Logitech hadn't been so single minded about making SBs rely on MSB, perhaps more of them would still be working during this outage. Some updates and of course a fix asap would be appreciated. However I guess as some have alluded that the MSB team is at least under resourced now. The final thing, should this and the general future of SB/MSB go badly that I, and anyone I can persuade, won't be touching any product with Logitech written on it with a very very long bargepole in future. There are so many passionate SB users that I expect many will do the same, and that will cause them at least an appreciable loss of business. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7125 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96516 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezenetwork
